of SHOCKS & sUrpri$es!

Surprise from the Valentine:

"Huh?! Why did you get me flowers?" "How much do they cost?" "Did you happen to pick it up from NUS bazaar?" "Someone sold it to you ultra cheaply?"

He feigned a hurt look and replied: "... UNROMANTIC..."

I couldn't help it. I don't hate flowers; neither do I like them. Strangely, it still felt flattering to receive one. I remembered that my first stalk of rose was given to me by KL, as a sort of "nice-to-meet-you" gift. That was in 2003/2004. I was shocked.

Come today, I am still not used to getting flowers, even from him. Cos he has never given me flowers before, not once in those 28 plus months!!! He kinda agreed that it was a waste of money to give flowers, especially to the ME who doesn't know how to appreciate floral beauty. So all the more, I am .

Speaking of surprises & shocks, it has been in our habit to ensure that the other receives his/her -gift in a most unusual and memorable manner. So far, the best was my last birthday. First came an SMS after he sent me back from dinner. "Quick! Check who's at your door!"

Scruffy, the cheeky messenger!

The doggy was the first lead in the treasure hunt. I had to search high and low for the next clue, only to find a tiny piece of paper in its little pocket where it keeps its little blue-colored bone (see doggy's right).

The clue read: "... Scruffy likes digging and hiding things and fetching mail.. you hear postman now? Quick Quick! Bring Scruffy there now!!!"

That clue had me run up and down the house looking for the "mailbox". I even had the thought that the 'treasure' was in my letterbox! But it was rather impossible to slot in anything into the new-style letterbox without the master key. I can't remember where I found it, but it was a book, which contains another clue. And that contains yet a 4th one! It was a long and tiring night. Haha, but the rewards were sweet.

He knew that I love surprises and he tried his best to create one at every opportunity. Lovely work, dear one.
