Hanoi Escapade - Day 6

DAY SIX / 2 January 2007, Tuesday

HANOI - SIN

The flowers! It was already the last day of our stay in Hanoi. Running through the list of places we had gone to for the past 5 days - Halong Bay, Hoan Kiem Lake, Old Quarters, West Lake - the last place I will love to visit but didn't have a chance to do so was the French Quarters.

"Lying to the south and east of Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi's French Quarter has grand boulevards and elegant French colonial buildings. These include the stately Opera House, based on the neo-Baroque Paris Opera, complete with gray slate tiles imported from France. One block east of the Opera House is Hanoi's Museum of History, an elaborate blend of Vietnamese palace and French villa, a style that came to be called Neo-Vietnamese. Trang Tien, the main artery of the French Quarter, is still a busy shopping street where you'll find bookshops and art galleries as well as cafés and hotels."

Argh.

Anyway, for completeness sake, the rest of the photos depicted the events that followed through our last day in Hanoi.

Last chance at eating my favorite dessert - the gingery rice dumplings!

Baguette & Chocolate - a confectionery situated next to Majestic Salute Hotel. Heard from Lena that their pastries are small, cute and cheap!

Nothing better to do at the airport. We were waiting for the ever-delaying flight back to Singapore.

And finally...
