The SPECIALIST's markup

Emu showed me the website to the Singapore Dental Association's guidelines for the various fees for dental treatments.

Ok! Let's take a look at my own expenses at the "SPECIALIST" clinic and see how much markup I am being charged.

1. X-Rays - i had a total of 5 x-rays. They should be considered small x-rays since each one took less than a second.
Cost = 5 x $15 = $75

2. Consultation. Hmm.. He didn't exactly talked much to me. But well, he did spend an hour per session with me... so $65 each.
Cost = 2 x $65 = $130

3. Octagram - the ring that is supposed to hold the tooth in place while it waits for its 'crown'.
Cost = $35

4. Medication - normal off-the-rack painkillers with a brand I never heard of.
Cost = $10

5. 40-inch Plasma TV - BONUS

6. Charismatic doctor - EXTRA BONUS

5. THENCE, the remaining cost turned out to be = $1025 - 75 - 130 - 35 - 10 = $775 / 3 = ~$258 per canal!
Markup = 58/258 = 22.5%

Sounds reasonable! :)

Yet my MasterCard tells me, for a 99% painless affair, it's PRICELESS!!!
